 Consultancy

Our staff can look back on many years of experience and have advanced degrees in a variety of fields related to automatic speaker recognition, voice biometrics, forensic linguistics and more. Through our collaborations with prestigious universities, we stay up to date and provide consultancy services to help you with your projects.

White papers

Concise reports on issues related to voice biometrics, speaker diarisation, audio fingerprinting, audio enhancement, cloud APIs, and more

Proof of concept prototypes

Demonstrations and dry-runs using customer data on premise or externally

System calibration and adaptation to customer data

Calibration and adaptation of our products using customer data to satisfy additional requirements

Customer problem statement analysis and proposals of system architectures

Building products with our customers

We are also building products on request in direct response to a specific customer requirement or application. The development iterations have been shaped by the customers through feedback and real-life data. After product release, the feedback loop between customers and the development team is kept alive through sales and training. We explore new avenues and adaptations for these products to be used.

Awards and Selected Projects

The founders, Anil Alexander and Oscar Forth, won the Home Office Scientific Development Branch award along with the Metropolitan Police in 2010 for conceptualising and developing an audio processing product which is now used in major UK forensic audio laboratories.

In 2016-2017, we were competitively selected by the UK Home Office to develop MADCAT audio fingerprinting software to detect illegal material.

TAPAS: Training Network on Automatic Processing of PAthological Speech

We are further partners of the research network TAPAS (Training Network on Automatic Processing of PAthological Speech), a Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Network European Training Network (MSCA-ITN-ETN) project that aims to transform the well-being of people with debilitating speech pathologies.

Here’s what some of our customers have had to say about working with us or about using our technology:

We were delighted to see our Spectrumview audio analysis app being used by Dr Helen Czerski , a renowned oceanographer and physicist from University College London, to explore a whole new acoustic world under the waves as part of the BBC 4 documentary – ‘Ocean Autopsy: The Secret Story of Our Seas’ .

“So the ocean surface is effectively a barrier for almost all sound, so we have no idea what’s going on down there, and it’s a different acoustic world. But you can listen in with the help of a little bit of technology.” Dr Helen Czerski, Oceanographer

Vehicle Vibration Analysis using SmoothRide

We are proud to have worked with Pro-Cut on the analysis algorithms for (in their own words) ‘the coolest app for wheel and brake service you will ever see’.

“Oxford Wave Research were exceptionally great to work with. We posed them a challenge that was very different from their focus in audio pattern recognition. Despite this they immediately grasped what we were looking for and set to developing and adapting their algorithms and tweaking their code to work for our challenge in vehicle vibrations. Development was very cooperative and simple. The ongoing challenges of our project were identified and faced and overcome without drama or cost adds – the entire process was extremely collaborative.” Jeff Hastings, President of Pro-Cut International

SpectrumView: Is this the sound of US diplomats under ‘sonic attack’ in Cuba?

“Traditional recording devices are only able to pick up certain types of frequencies, such as the ones that the human ear can hear. It’s possible there are additional frequencies, possibly those too low or too high to be picked up that are also happening when these attacks occur.” – Josh Lederman, The Associated Press

Airbus Noise Profiling

“Anil and Oscar from Oxford Wave Research supported us brilliantly during our testing.  Their technical insights were very useful in our diagnostic activities. The app was also very user friendly and provided us with clear, instant feedback during the tests.” – Ian Thomas, Systems and Equipment Specialist at Airbus Operations Ltd

Collaboration between LDC and Oxford Wave Research

“The Consortium continually looks for new ways to integrate speech technology into data collection and annotation processes to improve speed, scale and quality while avoiding bias. We are excited by the increased capability that OWR tools offer.” – Chris Cieri, LDC Executive Director
